Joseph Szady

Growing up in a small Massachusetts town in the 50's Joseph spent many hours watching F-86 Sabres climb into the sky from Westover Field, near his father's home town outside of Springfield. "I can still hear the loud roar; those memories give me goose-bumps". Leaving his New England home, Joseph attended the University of Notre Dame, where he participated in football, boxing, and rugby before graduating with a BA in liberal arts in 1973. He later attended Ray-Boge School of Art, where he received the Illustrator's Award in both 1977 and 1978, before graduating in 1978. Joseph has been a member of the prestigious American society of Aviation Artists since his inspirational meeting with ASAA founder, Keith Ferris, at Keith's New Jersey home in 1990.

His love of military aviation led to many defense related assignments. His clients include: the U.S. Navy, General Electric, and the Harris Corporation. Various aviation commissions are now hanging in private collections across the United States and three of Joseph's paintings hang permanently at the Officer's Club on Kirtland, AFB in Albuquerque. "CAG Cat Sunset" has been on display at the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, and Joseph has had several paintings on display at other museums and airports.

Joseph Szady Open Edition Print "TROUBLE"

IMAGINE COMPLETING A LONG RANGE MISSION INTO ENEMY TERRITORY and returning to your home base, which happens to be a 1000 foot nuclear carrier in the middle of some ocean, during a lightning storm. Now imagine that you are on “bingo” fuel while you are about to land, but unfortunately, make the worst approach in your naval career! WHAT DO YOU DO? Do you attempt the landing anyway? You can’t go around again. WHAT DO YOU DO?

The artist, Joe Szady, puts you IN THE PILOT’S SEAT, IN THE COCKPIT of the FA-18. You see what he sees, and your gloved hand is on the control stick as the reflection of your helmet appears in your rear-view mirror, but you ask yourself, WHAT DO I DO? You are in TROUBLE!

This 24" by 18" print is signed by the artist

All Limited Edition prints are signed and numbered (S/N) by the artist. Limited Edition prints are restricted to a certain number. For example, if 400 prints are made from an original painting, once they’re gone, that’s it. There is no limit to the number of open edition prints of a particular painting. That’s why Limited Edition prints are more expensive — and more valuable to collectors — than "open" edition. Rare objects are more valuable.

All Limited Edition artwork is subject to availability at time of order. Although seller strives to remain currrent as to inventory, seller reserves the right to cancel a sale if item is no longer available at time of purchase.
