Rick Herter

Rick Herter is an artist with a pilots' soul. Born in southwestern lower Michigan he grew up with a sketchpad in hand and a fascination for flight. After graduating from Spring Arbor College with a degree in Art, he took his artistic skills and began working for clients around the country. Early clients included airshows and defense contractors, and, within a few years, the artist transitioned from illustrations for publication to fine art oil paintings for collectors.

In 1988 Rick was invited to become a member of the Air Force Art Program. The program, existing since the 1950's, utilizes a select group of artists to document Air Force history and its operations around the world. Herter's travels have taken him to many parts of the world, including the Orient and the Middle East. His flight experiences have included aircraft from the P-51 Mustang to assault helicopters and the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Rick has also been involved with the American Society of Aviation Artists and participates in historical and educational programs for the Michigan Historical Museum and his local chamber of commerce. Included in his awards, he received national recognition with the Spirit of America Award, presented by the Air Force in 1990. Rick Herter's original oil paintings are exhibited in such places as Capitol Hill, the Air Force Academy and the Air Force Museum along with museums and many private collections. He has done work for such corporate clients as Rolls Royce Aerospace, UPS Airlines, T.W.A., and is currently working for the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

Rick Herter Signed & Numbered Limited Edition Print "Railroaded"

The P-51 Mustang has been called the finest fighter aircraft of WWII. This P-51 has just caught a German train in the open and he and his wingman sweep in for the attack. The print is countersigned by Col. Don Blakeslee along with one of the most famous aircraft nose artists of WWII, Mr. Don Allan. Col. This 28" by 18-1/2" print, limited to 600, is signed by the artist and personally autographed by Col. Don Blakeslee and Crew Chief Don Allan.

All Limited Edition prints are signed and numbered (S/N) by the artist. Limited Edition prints are restricted to a certain number. For example, if 400 prints are made from an original painting, once they’re gone, that’s it. There is no limit to the number of open edition prints of a particular painting. That’s why Limited Edition prints are more expensive — and more valuable to collectors — than "open" edition. Rare objects are more valuable.

All Limited Edition artwork is subject to availability at time of order. Although seller strives to remain currrent as to inventory, seller reserves the right to cancel a sale if item is no longer available at time of purchase.
