PRELUDE TO WAR
SPECIAL COLLECTOR'S EDITION DVD
While America sleeps, Japan and Germany methodically build their armies and launch their plans for global conquest.
Prelude to War, a famous propaganda film, was the U.S. Department of War's first installment in their Why We Fight series, a group of seven documentaries used to boost morale and encourage civilian support. This film contrasts the dictatorships of Germany, Italy, and Japan between WWI and WWII with American ideals in an effort to turn the tide of anti-militarism in the U.S. This fifty minute documentary was first shown as a training film for the United States Army and was later released as a theatrical production for civilian audiences. It defines two worlds that are so different they are bound to collide. One is a world of totalitarianism and brutality that is determined to conquer the world. The other is a group of allied nations that believe in freedom and democracy, but as the film points out, if they don't make a stand against the "slave" world, their values will be lost and fascism will reign.
