DISC 1

Militaristic Japan has been at war with China for over eight years and her increasingly aggressive policies have finally stirred isolationist America to action. An embargo of vital raw materials has been imposed which sets Japan on a collision course with the United States.

On December 7, 141, the fragile peace is shattered by a devastating Japanese surprise attack on the American fleet at Pearl Harbor. When the Japanese carrier aircraft complete their assualt on the American installations in Hawaii, the United States Pacific fleet is a shambles and over 2,00 American will be dead.

What followed the attack at Pearl Harbor was six months of humiliating defeats for the Allies as the Japanese rampage across the Pacific in a seemingly unstoppable wave of conquest. Before the war had started, Admiral Yamamoto had predicted that Japan would run wild in the Pacific for six months. Almost six months to the day following Pearl Harbor, the outnumbered American defenders of Midway Island, defeated the Japanese fleet. Whith hard work, planning and good luck, America had devastated the Japanese carrier force that began the war and put Japan on the defensive.

Bougainville, Tarawa and Saipan - exotic names seldom heard in America before the war. Yet these names would become forever teched in the minds of those who grimly fought for these islands.
